…Life Without Internet…

As my roommates and I just found ourselves a new home, there are still something’s that we just haven’t gotten around to fix yet. The shower is dripping 24/7, nothing seems to work in the kitchen, our closets are falling apart and I think that whomever installed the toilet in this flat should defiantly have read the manual first!!! But were learning from our mistakes. Next time I’m looking for a flat I intend to cook a nice meal there and have a shower after to make shure both the cooking stove is working and that there’s enough warm water to actually wash my hair. And then, if satisfied sign the contract.
But all in all, none of these things are our biggest concerns – however not having Internet is… And it has opened up a whole new world for us, how did the world even function without it? We now have 3 laptops lying around in our living room, almost completely useless like a credit card with no credit on it. Did we really pay that much for those pieces of metal? Is Plastic really just plastic and metal plain and simply just metal? At least I paid more for mine just because it looked better then the other ones, which was very smart of me considering that’s all it’s used for now.

We’ve tried to hitchhike on our neighbor’s networks, but they’ve kindly blocked us out with a password… All of them!!! Clever, very clever I say. Some of you might be thinking this right now – “Why the fuck don’t they just sign up for it, and pay like the rest of us do???”

And I understand where you’re all coming from, I really really do… And my response for all of you is really quite simple; WE HAVE ISSUES!!!
For some reason non of us wants the strangling commitment that follows with it, signing a contract, getting a bill in our name, and knowing that the next time were on the move again we have to let the company that provides us with the service, know!!!
And since we still haven’t gotten rid of our gipsy style of living, from one of our many past lives, we seem to be stuck in this life without it. But at least this gives us time to try the old fashioned way of communicating, with face to face conversations and cell phones, instead of writing on each other’s walls and statuses on Facebook. And how often do you meet someone who doesn’t have Internet? If you think about it, were actually quite unique. Far from being ordinary and definitely not followers.
And in some way or another, I will find out what my expensive piece of metal can be used for besides beeing online.

Midsummer In Sweden!!!

Midsummer (between June 19-25) is without a doubt one of the coolest traditions in Sweden; it’s an old tradition celebrating the fertility of the earth. And is supposed to be one of the most passionate night’s in Sweden, which results in a high number of childbirths around nine months later. And best of all yet another reason to drink alot of alcohol, dance around a maypole and have some fun!!!

People believed that mid-summer plants had miraculous healing powers and they therefore picked them on this night. Bonfires were lit to protect against evil spirits, which were believed to roam freely when the sun was turning southwards again. In later years, witches were also thought to be on their way to meetings with other evil powers.

Because Midsummer was thought to be one of the times of the year when magic was strongest, it was considered a good night to perform rituals to look into the future. Traditionally, young people pick bouquets of seven different flowers and put them under their pillow in the hope of dreaming about their future love.
